Spring Seminar
MARCH 29th – APRIL 1st
** Apply before March 15th! **

Club Guy & Roni’s SPRING SEMINAR is a full three-days workshop held in our studios in Groningen. It focused on the repetoire of Club Guy & Roni, as well as the creation process of two promising young makers. For this edition, we’ll be joined by Rebecca Laufer, Mats van Rossum and Zino Schat.

The Spring Seminar is an incubator for ideas and diverse practices as well as a space of experimentation without judgement and filled with a daringness to fail. We invite dancers 18+ who are studying in University or are professionals in the field.

“There are so many situations and plays in such small amount of days. Also the community that we’ve built in just three days is amazing.”

Program

The mornings will begin with class and repertoire taught by ensemble members of Club Guy and Roni and the afternoons will be dedicated to the research process of our chosen makers.

In the evenings after research, we facilitate an open conversation about and question the process of making art, our relationships towards public, our responsibilities as makers and as performers, and beyond. On the last day there will be an informal presentation for our community of what has been researched as to see what comes of this quick and informal way of creating.

Apply by filling out the form below; once we’ve received all necessary information, we will reach out with a link for payment.

This workshop is first come, first serve.

Zino Schat

This Dutch Moluccan choreographer grew up in a family full of musical influences. From an early age, he was a member of the international group the Skill Dealers, with whom he performed on streets around the world. His development as a street performer inspired him to bring various cultures together through art.

In addition to his love of dance, Zino also nurtured a passion for music. Throughout his life he developed as a music teacher and sound designer. As founder of the Fractal collective, he created interdisciplinary performances, eventually establishing himself as a musical creator at Korzo in The Hague. His style has its origins in hip-hop and street dance, which he mixes with contemporary dance.

Rebecca Laufer & Mats van Rossum

They founded their artistic collaboration in 2018. Before and during their collaboration they worked as professional dancers performing the works of numerous choreographers. In Tel Aviv they established their common love for dance and theater, sharing their passion for research and creation. Their work has been shown throughout Israel, Europe and the United States and has gained recognition in its field.

Their work shares a deep interest for movement in a dialogue with imagination. They are involved in all aspects of their productions including composing the music and designing the scenography as well as the choreographic score. They remain humbled by the endless potential of the craft, and the joy of creation.
